Focusing on learning and creating significant learning environments where students feel empowered and supported can be what innovation is all about. Tech-ing TEKS: Blended Learning Initiative is an innovation plan that incorporates the Texas State mandated standards and integrates technology to help inspire students and empower them to fall in love with learning. One of the first steps towards focusing on learning is shifting the students into a Growth Mindset. Throughout this course, I had the opportunity to revise my Growth Mindset Plan and reflect on additional steps needed to move students toward success. Both Fink’s Self-Directed Guide to create a Learning Outcomes 3 Column Table and the UbD Design plan allowed me to think about the overall goals students were expected to achieve and the meticulous steps needed to get there. My Learning Philosophy helped me to ensure that I stayed true to my beliefs and achieved the goals I set for students to achieve through the proper channels. Through the evolution of education, new ways of learning as stated in My New Culture of Learning reflection. To ensure that students are equal in society, it is pivotal to incorporate the new technologies and resources available to us as educators and consumers of education.
Having a growth mindset alone is not enough to determine success. In my original analysis, I thought that having a growth mindset was the step that we needed to guide all students in to change their perspective of learning and education, however, the first step is not enough. Having a growth mindset is one of the many steps that need to be taken to help learners develop and see through a progressive lens. Factors such as possessing the willpower to want to achieve, grit, resilience and the desire to do more also play factors in creating a significant learning environment and the ideal mindset. As an educator, my job is to lead by example. In doing so, I plan to help students monitor their progress goals and celebrate progression. With a growth mindset receiving feedback should be seen as an opportunity towards progression and reaching a goal. To elevate our students we have to start with having a growth mindset in combination with a solid follow-through plan to explain and model what adopting a Learner's mindset looks like for each student individually.
