Installing 4DX Model

Change in education is inevitable and often necessary. The 4DX model encourages change by clearly focusing on the Wildly Important Goal (WIG), ensuring that teams stay aligned and motivated. By emphasizing lead measures that are directly controllable, it empowers individuals to take steps toward achieving success, while ensuring team members become emotionally engaged in their goals. Creating an experience that gives a sense of purpose and ownership, often leads to higher performance (Wooll, 2024). The consistent tracking and accountability fostered by the 4DX model help teams celebrate progress and adjust strategies as needed. Incorporating the 4DX model with my innovation plan creates a culture of continuous improvement, where positive change is not only possible but sustainable. Teachers will be able to facilitate a learning environment that empowers students to master content while choosing how they wish to do so using technology applications.

The Influencer Model and 4DX

Discipline 1: Focus on the Wildly Important

Because execution starts with focus, it is important to choose a WIG that hones in on the big picture. A WIG is specific and measurable and comes from If you do not have a main goal in mind, it is easy to lose focus of the big picture (Covey et al., 2021).

The WIG- 85% of 6th grade Reading Language Arts teachers on campus will implement blended learning, to incorporate district-purchased technology applications to display mastery of content via technology using choice.

Discipline 2: Act on the Lead Measure

To achieve the WIG, we must identify the lag measures that will track the success of the goal. We also use lead measures that will forecast the progress of the lag measures (Covey et al., 2021).

Lag: Reading Language Arts unit assessments, performance assessments, and daily grades will determine student mastery of content using district-approved technology applications.

Lead measure: Use Google Drive to have a place where the team can share examples and samples of student work.

Discipline 3: Keep a Compelling Scoreboard

This discipline requires engagement with others, which people are more likely to do when they see a clear purpose. When individuals become emotionally invested, their performance improves and they tend to stay motivated.

Teachers will upload students' performance and end-of-the-unit assessments to a collective Google Drive to keep tabs and hold themselves and each of them accountable.

Discipline 4: Create a Cadence of Accountability

The final discipline creates a regular and recurring cycle of accounting for past performance and committing to the performance that is to come (Covey et al., 2021).

The team of 6th grade Reading Language Arts teachers will meet weekly to discuss progress and data for each unit based on the content TEKS and technology integration goals. By meeting so often, the team will keep the WIG in mind.
